For more than 60 years, two American Divisions, the 42nd Rainbow and the 45th Thunderbirds still argue to be the first American troops in Dachau. In this book you will find the proof that they already were there in second place. Some curious Americans from japanese ancestry went in Dachau the DAY BEFORE the others but, had to leave at once under Court Martial threat and had orders to keep it secret. The truth was revealed 50 years later when we found a diary recalling the Americans of Japanese Ancestry on April 29th 1945, the day of the liberation. The diary mentioned the liberation of Dachau but, it was probably the subcamp of Kaufering IV Hurlach. If the Main unit was there, it was more than likely that the scouts of the 522nd F.A. were on the spot the day before. Of course, no other American troops were there on the April 28th 1945...

Nisei first in Dachau

Nisei soldiers were the first to reach Dachau Concentration camp ONE DAY before the

liberation on April 28th 1945. Two jeeps provoked some alerts in the camp in the morning.

The jeeps of the 522nd Field Artillery reached the Dachau's main Gate. One polish detainee

saw the american jeeps and against the orders of the Liberation Commitee of Dachau, left his

barrack and run after the 522nd jeeps when he saw them leaving. He was killed but a bullet in

the head and fall down in the front door.

When the first official liberators from the 42nd UD Division came inside the camp (Lt Cowling

with Oddi and Tinkam, and journalist Peter Fuchs and Higgins) they have to push the death

body from the door to get in. This fact prove that they came after the jeeps of the 522nd Field

Artillery. This unit was composed only with men of Japanese ancestry coming from

concentration camps in the USA. When they report to the Headquarter they reached a special

camp looking like the one they came from. They were ordered to leave immediately and to keep

their mouth shut under court martial law. The HQ were probably affraid that the media looking for

the first liberators of Dachau could learn that was some concentration camps in the US. This

information could have been a shock fir the free world...

So the Nisei soldiers were the first at the Dachau's gate but never get in. They can't be

considered like the first liberators.
